Garden Design Tips.
It is great fun to plan out your own designer garden. You can design the perfect garden to meet your needs! People will take great effort to personlise and create a unique look to their home, but often the garden is left to follow a standard design plan.
The following brief guides will hopefully provide you with some useful starting points for designing your own garden.
Home Landscape Design:
Here a few things to consider before you start landscaping your current garden, or design a brand new one. Carefully panning at this stage will save time and money.
Step one: Draw a rough map of your garden or area of land. If you are redesigning an established garden, make a note the plants that are already there. Also indicate any outbuildings, electric lines and poles, the location of the septic system and/or water lines and gas lines. Include driveways, boundaries, and what is in the neighbours garden that could effect any potential design plans, things like large trees or outbuildings.
Questions to ask yourself:
What do you and your family plan to use the garden for?
What is the access like to the garden area?
Are there family activities that need to be accommodated?
Are there pets or livestock that need space and housing?
Do you need screening from neighbours in the form of trees or fencing?
Do you want a casual or formal design?
Do you need space for a clothesline?
Do you need space for a garden shed?
Do you need space for a greenhouse?
Consider your family's requirements and expectations about the use of the garden. Pathways and walkways are very important in landscape design.
What kinds of plants you would like to have. Shade trees, Fruit trees, Shrubs, Flowers?
Consider the expense of your design project.
Once you have established a plan of the requirements, make several sketches incorporating all the features to see how they will fit into the space available. Consider how things will change and grow, and what the garden will be like ion the future.
