Garden Design Tips.
It is great fun to plan out your own designer garden. You can design the perfect garden to meet your needs! People will take great effort to personlise and create a unique look to their home, but often the garden is left to follow a standard design plan.
The following brief guides will hopefully provide you with some useful starting points for designing your own garden.
Decorative Tile Feature:
This is a great use for any bits of broken pottery or tiles you may have lying around. Equally you can use specially purchased tiles and other components.
If you have an area of wall, maybe surrounding a raised bed, or raised water feature, you can dramitcally change it's appearance and add vibrant colour to your garden using this design technique.
The basic principle is to apply a layer of quick setting cement to the surface of the wall, and then add in the tiles or pottery fragments to create the feature.
It may help to have an idea of the finished result, or you may choose to go for a totally random effect.
Avoid any sharp edges sticking out from the design, and always work with protective gloves so you do not cut yourself on the shards, while making the feature.
Work in stages to avoid having to rush to place all the pieces before the cement dries.
If you are working on the feature over several days, use a polythene cover to protect your work overnight, or in any adverse weather conditions.
